The newest member of the New Cody's Superheroes is Brandon. It didn't take long to draw this version, and I'm not completely impressed and satisfied. Here's the result:
I'm not sure what it is that's putting me off. At first, I thought his head was a strange shape, that maybe it was too short and wide. So, I made it a bit taller, but it still isn't right. Maybe his shoulders were too wide, so I brought them in, along with his right leg, but that didn't seem right, either. I don't know, maybe it's just me. I also drew him a bit shorter than Greg, so I had to make him taller again.
Anyway, it's a far cry from the original look:
Here's a composite for Brandon, like I did for the other two:
I think as I add more characters to this image, and expand it, each character will become aware of the new ones. For example, Jason and Greg initially were looking at each other, because there was nothing else to look at. Now Brandon is there, Greg's eyes have moved, maybe by the time the next character shows up, Greg's head will have fully turned.
I have to be careful about making characters asymmetrical, since I don't plan on drawing them facing both directions, rather just mirroring them. Jason gets a scar on one side of his face, which is going to be a pain in the butt. Maybe I'll just make him two head symbols. I guess everyone has to get two head symbols, since almost everyone goes through a cosmetic change. Not Brad, though. Poor Brad. Everyone else gets a symmetrical change (Greg is blue, and he's getting a symbol on his forehead; Justin gets burnt, and actually needs three heads: one normal, one without hair, one burned; Brandon is grey and shiny, so that's that)
I also saved this image, because I thought it was neat, that the six characters look like they're some kind of energy beings. It's irrelevant to the final project, it's just the six rough characters with wireframe turned on.
